The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed the tragic news on Monday morning that the body of missing Georgia construction director Nathan Millard, 42, was discovered in the 2900 block of Scenic Highway. The cause of death is currently unknown and autopsy results are pending.
Millard, a married father of five, was last seen at Happy’s Irish Pub in downtown Baton Rouge after attending an LSU basketball game with a client on February 23. He left the bar at 11:30 p.m. to return to his hotel room, but never made it back.
The bar is located about a two-minute walk from the Courtyard Marriott hotel, and the area where Millard’s body was found is a seven-minute drive away. According to law enforcement, a foul odor was reported in the area early Monday morning, and Millard’s body was found wrapped in a carpet in a vacant lot.
The police have not released any further details relating to Millard’s disappearance and death. His family and friends have been searching for him since his disappearance, and Texas EquuSearch, a nonprofit organization that helps find missing persons, had been assisting in the search.
The police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact BRPD’s Missing Persons Division at 225-389-3853 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867. Millard’s family and friends are devastated by the news of his death and are hoping that an investigation into the cause of death can provide some answers to their questions.
