The Aaron Rodgers saga in Green Bay is one that has been going on for some time now, and it appears that the Packers are finally ready to move on. According to Bob McGinn of GoLongTD.com, the Packers are “disgusted with” Rodgers and are “done with him”, and their decision to draft Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft was a sign of this.
McGinn cites his own instincts, his knowledge of the league, and “discussions with someone who [has] first-hand knowledge” of the Packers to back up his report. He also believes that the entire power structure, including CEO Mark Murphy, G.M. Brian Gutekunst, and coach Matt LaFleur, is fed up with Rodgers’ lack of effort.
It appears that the Packers are ready to move on from the future Hall of Famer, and that could mean a trade is inevitable. McGinn believes that the team wants to trade Rodgers to an AFC team, as they did with Brett Favre 15 years ago, but they may be forced to trade him to the one team he would want to play for, even if it is an NFC team.
It will be interesting to see how the situation plays out, but it looks like the Packers are finally ready to move on from the legendary quarterback. As of right now, it is unclear if Rodgers will accept a backup role to Love, or if he will insist on being the starter whatever team he ends up on. Only time will tell.
