Billy Bush and Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have been making headlines ever since their respective exits from ABC News. After news of the former GMA3 co-hosts’ off-camera romance broke, Bush weighed in on what their next career move should be.
The Extra host recently spoke out about the couple during an impromptu airport interview, expressing his support for the two. “I think they should work together,” Bush told TMZ. “I think they do a great job.” Bush went on to suggest that the two should create their own podcast or TV show, saying, “They’ve got something that works.”
Bush also spoke out against the treatment the couple received, saying “people love to wade into other people’s clubhouses.” He believes that everyone should have the right to find their way back professionally, regardless of the circumstances.
An ABC spokesperson later confirmed the couple’s exit from the network, citing “productive conversations” about different options. Since then, Robach and Holmes have been spotted on different vacations, proving that their relationship is still going strong.
Bush himself has been no stranger to controversy. In 2016, he was suspended from his jobs at NBC after an unaired 2005 conversation between him and then-host of Celebrity Apprentice Donald Trump was leaked. The clip showed Bush laughing as Trump made his infamous “grab ‘em by the p****” remark.
The TMZ paparazzo asked Bush if he’s now learned his lesson about hot mics, to which Bush replied that he didn’t need to. “No,” he said, “I’m going to be me and do what I do and if someone’s going to try and leak it, then they’re the loser — and everybody’s coming around to that.”
It’s clear that Bush has a strong opinion on how Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes should move forward in their careers, and it will be interesting to see where the couple goes from here. With Bush’s advice in mind, hopefully Robach and Holmes will be able to find success in whatever they pursue.
