Buster Murdaugh: The Mysterious Murdaugh Family Member
Buster Murdaugh is a mysterious figure in the Netflix documentary series Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal. The series follows the wealthy Murdaugh family of South Carolina as they deal with a series of deaths and scandals that have rocked their family. At the center of it all is Buster, the son of matriarch Margaret “Maggie” Murdaugh and husband Alex Murdaugh, who was charged with their murders but has maintained his innocence.
Buster was attending law school at the University of South Carolina before the murder of his mother and brother. However, he was eventually kicked out for an incident involving plagiarism. According to local paper The Post and Courier, Buster’s family paid $60,000 in order to ensure that he would be readmitted to the college in order to complete his law degree. However, he has yet to recommence his studies.
Buster currently lives with his girlfriend, lawyer Brooklynn White, in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. It is uncertain what he does for a living. In February of this year, he testified in his father’s trial as a first witness for the defense.
The Murdaugh Murders documentary also includes mention of the hit-and-run death of Stephen Smith, a former friend and classmate of Buster’s, which remains unsolved. In addition, the documentary covers the boating accident in which somebody died, and the events that preceded the deaths of matriarch Margaret “Maggie” Murdaugh and her son Paul in the summer of 2021.
The series has shed light on the mysterious figure of Buster Murdaugh and the circumstances surrounding the Murdaugh family. It is yet to be seen if he will ever return to law school or if he will remain a mysterious figure in the Murdaugh Murders saga.
