Robert Woods is a free man, and he’s ready to take his talents elsewhere. The Tennessee Titans released the wide receiver on Wednesday, and Woods expressed his reaction on Twitter with one word: “Free!”
Woods, who was acquired by the Titans in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams last March, appeared in all 16 games for Tennessee. He tallied 53 receptions for 527 yards and two touchdowns.
“Joining this team is beneficial for my career,” Woods said after the trade last March.
The Titans were able to free up more than $12 million in salary cap space by releasing Woods. The free agent wide receiver is now on the market and is sure to draw some attention from other teams.
Woods followed his one-word tweet with a follow-up: “Where should I go?”
The wide receiver has some options, with teams like the New England Patriots, New York Giants, and Denver Broncos all having a need for a deep playmaker like Woods. He’s a proven veteran and could be a valuable asset to any team looking to make a playoff push.
The Titans have some big decisions to make this offseason as they look to retool their roster. Releasing Woods was likely the first of many moves they will make.
We’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for Woods and the Titans. For now, though, he’s free and ready to make his next move.
