Jayson Tatum’s Son Deuce Sets the Tone in Celtics-Cavs Matchup
Wednesday night’s matchup between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden was an exciting one, with Jayson Tatum scoring 41 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Celtics to a 117-113 victory. But a key moment came shortly before the game even started, when Donovan Mitchell tried to get a high five from Tatum’s son, Deuce.
Deuce, who was sitting courtside for the game, was having none of it, snubbing the Cavaliers star with a cold shoulder. It appears Deuce knows not to show love for the enemy, and it set the tone for the game.
Postgame was a different story, however: Deuce was happy to show Mitchell some love, showing that he understands that even if you’re tight with his dad, you don’t get a high five until the game clock hits zero.
The exchange between Deuce and Mitchell was a hilarious reminder of the importance of respecting the game. It’s also a reminder that even though Tatum and Mitchell are close friends from their days as teammates on the U.S. 2019 FIBA World Cup squad, they’re still opponents on the court. Deuce clearly showed that he was taking sides Wednesday night, and it was a great moment for all involved.
