Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is back in familiar territory, returning to Alabama football as the program’s director of player development. After a successful seven-year NFL career that included one Pro Bowl selection and several All-NFC honors, Clinton-Dix is ready to start his coaching career in Tuscaloosa.
The former safety, who played for Alabama from 2011-13 and won two national championships, embraced the moment with humor. After his first day on the job, Clinton-Dix tweeted, “1st day on the Job I got a (butt) Chewing from Coach Saban, 1 down 5 million to go.”
Nick Saban welcomed Clinton-Dix back to the Crimson Tide with open arms. “Ha Ha has done an outstanding job in his NFL career and I’m excited to have him join the staff here at Alabama and help our players reach their full potential,” said Saban. “Ha Ha will be a great mentor and leader for our young players.”
Clinton-Dix will be joining a staff that includes new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele. Rees, a former Notre Dame quarterback, will be tasked with helping Alabama’s offense reach its full potential. Steele, who was previously the defensive coordinator at Clemson, will be responsible for bringing the best out of the Crimson Tide’s defense.
With the addition of Clinton-Dix, Alabama now has a staff that features some of the best minds in college football. Clinton-Dix’s experience and leadership will be invaluable as he helps the next generation of Alabama players develop into successful college and professional athletes.
