Suki Waterhouse and Robert Pattinson have been a couple since 2018, and are now one of the most talked about celebrity couples in the world. As Waterhouse continues to make strides in her career, the British singer and actress is opening up about the highs and lows of navigating the public eye.
In a new interview, Waterhouse discussed the challenges of being “the girlfriend of”, especially after her high-profile romances with Robert Pattinson and ex-boyfriend Bradley Cooper.
“You can’t expect the world to just be graciously understanding of everything,” Waterhouse said. “When you’re 21 you go headfirst into things and you’ve absolutely no idea what the repercussions are.”
Waterhouse also mentioned the difficulties of constantly seeing her ex’s new relationships splashed all over the internet. She revealed that she used her music to process a “colossal heartbreak” during her 20s and was “kind of depressed for a while”.
Despite the challenges, Waterhouse and Pattinson have been together for nearly five years, and the couple now lives together in London. Waterhouse describes the relationship as “utterly healed” and says that they’ve always got so much to say to each other. She also notes that she’s “shocked” that she’s so happy with someone for so long and that they haven’t been apart for longer than two months.
Navigating the public eye as a high-profile couple has its complications, but Waterhouse and Pattinson have managed to make it work. Waterhouse says that it’s Pattinson who is most disturbed by paparazzi attention, but that she’s “always incredibly excited” to see his name pop up on her phone.
While the couple has their careers in common, Waterhouse says that “Rob definitely isn’t getting advice from [her] about acting”. Although, she admits that she’ll “try and get him to help [her] with an audition before he falls asleep on the sofa”.
Waterhouse also has kids on the mind, saying that she can’t wait to be a “sitting cow for a bit of time” and that she wishes she could “click her fingers to make it happen”.
All in all, Waterhouse and Pattinson make a unique and inspiring couple, proving that it is possible to navigate the public eye while still being completely in love. In spite of the challenges they’ve faced, the couple has managed to make it work and stay together for almost five years.
