Jay Leno has made a miraculous recovery after suffering third-degree burns in a garage fire back in November. On Wednesday’s episode of the Kelly Clarkson Show, Leno opened up about his recovery and showed off his “brand-new face” three months after the accident.
In the episode, Jay was joined by the doctor and nurses who treated him at the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills, California. He also recounted the story of the accident, which happened while he was working on his 1907 White Steam car. While trying to unclog a fuel line, the car’s pilot light ignited the gas which hit his face, neck, ear, upper body, left arm and hands.
The doctors and nurses recalled how they were a little uneasy when they first saw the extent of the damage done to Jay’s face. However, after several surgeries, Jay’s ear was successfully reconstructed. Jay joked that he was now the “new face of comedy” for the second time in his career.
To thank everyone for their hard work, Jay gifted the nurses with trips to Atlantis in the Bahamas. He also revealed he would be hosting a benefit for the hospital to help children being treated there.
Although Jay has returned to work and is busy with a full schedule of shows, he recently suffered another injury in a motorcycle accident in January. This left him with a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, and two cracked kneecaps.
Overall, Jay Leno has demonstrated an impressive recovery and shows no signs of slowing down. He is an inspiration to all and serves as a reminder to never give up, no matter how difficult the situation.
