Klay Thompson’s record-breaking performance against the Houston Rockets on Friday night was one for the ages. The four-time NBA champion put on a show, raining down 12 3-pointers and recording 42 points in a much-needed Warriors victory.
Thompson’s big night set a number of NBA records and put into perspective just how impressive the 33-year-old’s performance was. Here are a few of the key stats that put Thompson’s night into perspective:
• Thompson became the first player in NBA history to make 12 or more 3-pointers in a game without a miss.
• He set a new career-high for 3-pointers made in a game, surpassing the 11 he made against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 6 of the 2016 Western Conference Finals.
• Thompson also became the fourth player in NBA history to record 40 points and 10 3-pointers in a single game, joining Stephen Curry, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.
• He is the oldest player to ever make 12 or more 3-pointers in a game.
• He became the first Warriors player to make 12 3-pointers in a game since Curry did it against the New Orleans Pelicans in October of 2016.
The star guard has accomplished quite the comeback. After missing 941 days due to two lower leg injuries, Thompson has returned to the court better than ever. And as the Warriors make a push for the NBA playoffs, there certainly will be more big moments to come.
Thompson’s record-breaking performance against the Rockets is the perfect example of why he is still one of the most exciting players in the league. With his wrists and feet still working, the Splash Brother will continue to put on a show and make NBA history.
