The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a roll as of late, with wins in three straight games and a 27-point comeback victory in Dallas over the weekend. LeBron James and Anthony Davis lead the way for the Lakers, with the two superstars combining for 56 points in the win. But it was Jarred Vanderbilt who provided the spark for the team, scoring 15 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in the victory.
Vanderbilt had a career night, showcasing his defensive energy and slashing ability. He was able to be the spark that the Lakers needed to climb the 27-point hill and get the win. James also had a huge night, despite suffering an ankle injury in the third quarter. He was able to stay in the game and make big plays, hitting a three-pointer to tie the game to start the fourth and giving the Lakers their first lead since early in the first quarter.
The Lakers were able to hold off the Mavericks late and come away with the victory. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 26 points while Kyrie Irving had 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Lakers were able to force the Mavericks into a turnover with 18.1 seconds remaining and Davis hit a spinning jumper to put the Lakers back up three. Schroder then made a pair of free throws and Irving’s half-court heave was off, the Lakers winning for the third game in a row.
This win was a huge one for the Lakers, who have been on a roll as of late. With James, Davis and now Vanderbilt leading the way, the Lakers are poised to make a deep run in the playoffs.
