The Michigan Wolverines had one representative at the NFL Draft Combine on Saturday and Luke Schoonmaker did not disappoint. The 6-foot-5 tight end came in an inch shorter than his listed height on the Michigan roster, but all other measurements were as expected.
Schoonmaker then moved on to the event portion of the combine and he started off with an impressive performance in the vertical and broad jumps. He posted a vertical jump of 34 inches and a broad jump of 122 inches, both of which were top-10 performances among tight ends.
Schoonmaker then moved on to the 40-yard dash, where he posted a time of 4.76 seconds. While his time wasn’t the fastest among tight ends, it was still a solid performance.
Schoonmaker then concluded his combine performance with the three-cone drill and the shuttle run. He put up respectable times in both, which showed off his agility and change of direction ability.
Overall, Schoonmaker had a solid performance at the combine and he likely did enough to improve his draft stock. He showcased his athleticism and showed off his agility, both of which will be beneficial at the next level. It will be interesting to see where he ends up being selected in the upcoming NFL Draft.
