Florida motorcyclist Joshua Richardson learned the hard way that disobeying the law can have severe consequences. On March 3rd, Richardson and a group of other motorcyclists disregarded law enforcement orders to pull over and instead chose to flee, leading deputies on a high-speed chase. Dashcam footage captured the group recklessly weaving in between cars and then blowing through a red light.
The chase abruptly ended when Richardson, who had looked back and flipped deputies off seconds before, was T-boned by an oncoming truck in the intersection. Richardson miraculously survived the crash and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by police.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office released bodycam footage of Richardson on the ground in pain, where he was heard complaining to deputies. The deputies responded to Richardson with a stern reminder of what could have been avoided had he simply complied with law enforcement orders.
As a result of his actions, Richardson has been charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, resisting without violence, and leaving the scene of a crash. He has also been cited for failure to stop at a red light and passing in a no-passing zone.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has urged others to use Richardson’s incident as an example of why obeying the law is essential. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of following police orders and the importance of being responsible on the roads.
