On March 1, 2022, Hollywood power couple Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves McConaughey encountered turbulence on a Lufthansa flight from Austin, Texas to Frankfurt, Germany that resulted in seven passengers being hospitalized.
The couple, who have three children, detailed the chaotic situation on social media, where Camila posted a video of the Airbus A330 cabin showing overturned food and napkins. She explained that they “were told [the] plane dropped almost 4,000 feet,” and that “everything was flying everywhere.”
The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the incident, and according to a Lufthansa spokesperson, seven people were hospitalized with minor injuries. The McConaugheys were forced to spend the night at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott and were rebooked on a flight the next day.
Unfortunately, the turbulence didn’t end there. Camila posted a video of their second flight, saying the pilot had just informed them to expect 45 minutes of turbulence out of Washington, D.C. “Just my luck,” she said.
The incident has highlighted the importance of following safety measures on flights, such as wearing a seatbelt, keeping your seat in the upright position, and listening to the flight crew’s instructions. The McConaugheys’ story serves as a reminder for us all to practice caution and cautionary measures when flying.
