Aaron Rodgers is one of the most talked-about players in the NFL right now. With his future uncertain, teams across the league are speculating whether or not he will be their next quarterback. Over the past few weeks, the Oakland Raiders have emerged as the favorites to land Rodgers, with the Jets and Titans also in the running.
But why are the Raiders the betting favorites to land Rodgers? It could be due to the fact that the Raiders’ General Manager and Coach, Dave Ziegler and Josh McDaniels respectively, have apparently agreed that they won’t pursue Rodgers. That’s surprising, given that Rodgers and McDaniels may not have the perfect relationship.
The Jets, on the other hand, are reportedly willing to wait for Rodgers. This could cost them Derek Carr, but the difference between the two players is vast. If the Jets are serious about trying to salvage Zach Wilson’s career, Rodgers makes more sense than Carr. The veteran quarterback can play for a year or two, and then Wilson can take over.
At the end of the day, though, Rodgers holds the key to his own future. He has said he won’t hold the team hostage, but he has been passive aggressive in his approach. If he wants to make the move to another team, he needs to let the Packers know what he wants to do. Until then, the Raiders remain the betting favorites to land Aaron Rodgers.
