Kimberly Guilfoyle’s controversial departure from Fox News has been a source of speculation and intrigue in recent years. In 2020, reports emerged suggesting she had faced a sexual harassment accusation from a female assistant, and this week, private emails from Fox News Chairman Rupert Murdoch confirmed that her exit was due to “inappropriate behavior.”
The emails, revealed as part of Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit against Fox, showed that Murdoch had written that he had “insisted we fire for inappropriate behavior” when writing about Guilfoyle’s move from Fox to rival channel Newsmax.
The reports of the harassment allegation came from both Huffpost and The New Yorker in 2020, both of which reported that Fox had been in the midst of a year-long investigation into the accusation when Guilfoyle left. The New Yorker reported that the assistant’s allegations included that she was frequently made to work from Guilfoyle’s apartment while the Fox host “displayed herself naked” and that Guilfoyle showed her photographs of the genitalia of men she’d had sexual relations with.
Fox News agreed to a $4 million dollar out-of-court settlement, according to the report. A lawyer representing Guilfoyle told The New Yorker that “any suggestion” she had “engaged in misconduct at Fox is patently false.”
The emails from Murdoch add weight to the speculation surrounding Guilfoyle’s departure from Fox, and confirm that her exit was due to inappropriate behavior. Guilfoyle has since become a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, and is in a relationship with his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
