Scott Adams, creator and writer of the beloved comic strip Dilbert, recently made headlines after his comments on a YouTube show sparked controversy and resulted in hundreds of newspapers pulling his comic from their pages. In a recent interview on NewsNation’s Cuomo, Adams refused to apologize for his comments and went on to explain his reasoning behind them.
Adams argued that his comments were intended to draw attention to the issue of racism and encourage people to focus on solutions instead of looking backwards. He also stated that he had received support from many Black people, some of whom had invited him to barbecues and said that they understood what he was trying to do.
When an audience member asked Adams how she should explain his comments to her students, he suggested that she advise them to focus on their education and to work hard to overcome systemic racism. Adams also suggested that if a Black person had said the same thing as him, they wouldn’t have been canceled, emphasizing his support for free speech for everyone.
Adams has since announced that his most famous character will continue in Dilbert Reborn, an upcoming subscription website launching on March 13th. His stance on racism and free speech has been the source of much debate and discussion, and his upcoming website will no doubt be closely watched.
