Victor Wembanyama is quickly becoming one of the hottest names in the NBA Draft, and his stock is continuing to rise. Not only is his draft stock increasing, but so too is his physical stature.
Wembanyama, the French basketball prospect who is expected to be taken with the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, is now two inches taller than before. The former 7-foot-3 center is now 7-foot-5 in shoes, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Jonathan Givony.
That puts Wembanyama taller than Shaquille O’Neal, who was 7-foot-1 during his NBA career. Wembanyama’s wingspan also increased from 7-foot-9 to 8 feet, making him one of the longest wingspans in NBA history.
At 19 years old, Wembanyama is currently playing for the French team Metropolitans 92, which is part of the highest-tier basketball league in France. In 21 games in 2022-23, he is averaging 22.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.1 blocks and 2.3 assists on a 47/29/81 shooting split, with his shots-per-game split at 16/5/6.
As one of the most promising prospects in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama is rapidly increasing in size and skill. With an impressive wingspan and a towering height, Wembanyama looks to be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.
