The Dallas Stars are making a big splash just before the NHL trade deadline, as they have acquired forward Max Domi from the Chicago Blackhawks. Domi, who signed a one-year “show me” deal with Chicago this past summer, has had a career year in 2021, posting 18 goals and 49 points in 60 games. He is also set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. In the trade, Dallas has also acquired AHL netminder Dylan Wells, while goaltender Anton Khudobin and a second-round pick are going the other way. Khudobin is a veteran who played a key role in…
The NFL Scouting Combine is the most important event in the draft process for NFL teams, as it gives teams the opportunity to evaluate prospects and get a better sense of their abilities in person. This year’s combine, held in Indianapolis, was especially important as teams looked to find the best players to fill out their rosters for the upcoming season. This year, seven NFL scouts gave their favorite prospects at each position, and Yahoo Sports caught up with them to get their opinions. At quarterback, Anthony Richardson was the favorite among two of the seven scouts polled. Although he…
The Los Angeles Clippers have been struggling since the All-Star break, losing four consecutive games and giving up double-digit leads in three of those losses. The latest defeat was a 115-91 loss to the Golden State Warriors, a game in which the Clippers’ new point guard, Russell Westbrook, was the target of an unusual strategy of avoidance. The Warriors chose to give Westbrook a wide berth, sagging off multiple strides in an open invitation for the 30% three-point shooter to fire away. On multiple plays, Westbrook dribbled near the top of the three-point arc while the nearest defender waited deep…

The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a bold move in their goaltending situation, trading for veteran Jonathan Quick from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for goaltender Michael Hutchinson and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Quick, a former two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Los Angeles Kings, is in the final year of a 10-year, $58 million contract ($5.8 million AAV) he signed after winning his first championship in 2012. The 37-year-old has struggled this season, going 11-13-4 with a 3.50 goals against average and a .876 save percentage. The Blue Jackets will retain 50 percent of…
Jayson Tatum’s Son Deuce Sets the Tone in Celtics-Cavs Matchup Wednesday night’s matchup between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden was an exciting one, with Jayson Tatum scoring 41 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Celtics to a 117-113 victory. But a key moment came shortly before the game even started, when Donovan Mitchell tried to get a high five from Tatum’s son, Deuce. Deuce, who was sitting courtside for the game, was having none of it, snubbing the Cavaliers star with a cold shoulder. It appears Deuce knows not to show love for…
The Unveiling of a Newly Discovered Chamber Inside the Great Pyramids of Giza Egypt’s antiquities authorities on Thursday unveiled a newly discovered, sealed-off chamber inside one of the Great Pyramids at Giza, just outside of Cairo, that dates back some 4,500 years ago. The corridor — on the northern side of the Pyramid of Khufu — was discovered using modern scanning technology and measures 9 meters (nearly 30 feet) in length and is 2 meters (over 6 feet) wide, perched above the main entrance of the pyramid. Archaeologists do not know what the function was of the chamber, which is…
The Golden State Warriors have long been known as innovators when it comes to the game of basketball. From their small-ball lineup to their use of the “Death Lineup”, the Warriors have consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible on the court. On Thursday night, the Warriors unveiled a new strategy to defend Russell Westbrook: sagging off of him to leave him as open as possible. The strategy, which was implemented by head coach Steve Kerr and Draymond Green, worked to perfection, as Westbrook scored only eight points on 3-of-12 shooting from the field and missed all five of…

The Ice Age was a difficult time for humans in Europe. But despite the extreme cold temperatures, our species managed to survive. Now, a new study has examined the genome data of 356 European hunter-gatherers from the period between 35,000 to 5,000 years ago, providing insight into how humans survived the Ice Age and how key physical traits such as light skin and blue eyes came to be in Europeans. The study, published in the journal Nature, showed that while some populations managed to survive in warmer parts of Europe, such as France, Spain, and Portugal, other populations died out…
